And so it begins . . .

EGAD!  We've entered the dreaded "ember" months.  All months ending in "ember" are inherently depressing, belonging as they do to the slippery slope known to the rest of the U.S. as autumn but to Minnesotans as pre-winter.

So to celebrate, I did something I've been putting off for some time now . . . something that would remind me that I'm alive and I'd better keep putting one foot in front of the other, even if those feet are dragging heavy snow boots (which they will be before I know it) . . .

I JOINED FACEBOOK.

(Now I'm looking for someone
to design an app
that will limit my use of it.)

It was a little frightening to see the rate
at which my initial friend requests were accepted.
Apparently, people spend a lot of time on facebook.

It could be a problem.

"If it keeps up, man will atrophy all his limbs but the push-button finger."
Frank Lloyd Wright

Currently, my list of work avoidance techniques looks like this:

1) bake cookies

2) clean something

3) wander around Target

4) peruse old magazines (although technically, I have designed my work so that this sometimes qualifies)

5) search for more old magazines on Etsy

6) blog

7) clean up old emails

8) write poetry for Magpie Tales

At least facebook will give me an additional option.

It would look suspicious, for instance, if I were to bake cookies every day.  Perhaps less suspicious if I were to clean every day, but who wants to do that?

Online, however, I can keep a tab open for a quick switch to something useful while I actually sneak around time wasting and no one will suspect a thing.

Unless they read this . . .
So I'm signing off now.

(And I did promise to send Hannah some cookies . . . ! )

Tried to find you there and couldn't! I'm Marjorie Holme. No "s." I'm not on there too often but check every few days.

I'm confused, I always thought cleaning WAS work...

Funny that you quoted Frank Lloyd Wright today, because my morning sightseeing expedition with our visiting son & his girlfriend was up to Taliesin West, which I'd somehow overlooked these past 5 years. So it's been a very Frank-filled day so far.

P.S. You can find me wasting time on Facebook too, if having me here isn't already too much!

I'd be delighted to make new friends and connect with old ones, ladies -- so please "friend" me if you know how to do it (since it will take me awhile to figure out how the darn thing works . . .)

Chelsea assured me that it was very user friendly, but I believe that assumes that the user is something less than 47 years old.

Oh, and LuAnne -- I'm so jealous of your field trip today! I've always been a huge frank-o-phile. What a fun coincidence! Happy I could participate in that bit of serendipity.

Uh-oh! I hate facebook - I'm there but reluctantly, and for the briefest time possible. Now blogs - oh don't get me started there. I follow so many, I can't count that high. My favorite avoidance technique EVER.

It truly is one of the biggest time-wasters. Although, I have found that I don't spend nearly as much time on it as I used to - which is a good thing. But, I sure do love being able to keep up with my family (including extended family) and friends.
