River, Maria Moevs, 2005
Ripple Effect
I could float away on you, lulled
pulled softly, dislodged
adrift in your current and far
from where I was
when I fell in
when I fell in
there must be something
around the bend to grab
hold onto, catch
if I follow you, face up
keep breathing
in your quiet
your green
your stillness
your birdsong
your gentle rustling
breezy fingers
teasing my every leaf
and stirring something deep

hopeful magpie,
yes, keep breathing, smiles.
great take.
have a beautiful 2012.
A river, yes, to float away on, to slide, to skate, to sleep, perhaps to dream.....uh.....dang!
Sometimes ripples go pretty deep.
Nice one.
p.s. your "might also like" sent me to 5.23.2011 and Hannah's hilarious sketch of the winterized legs, the horizontal bathing suit, polka dot cap. HA! I'm growing fur on my own legs. One sure advantage of winter.
Love song to the river...
"Stirring something deep." You did, you did...
'pulled gently'......I rather like that thought.......
Peaceful take.
Your magpie takes me right to the river - which is solidly frozen right now, but looking at the pic and reading your words I'm warm again!
very romantic.
teasing my every leaf...oo la la...smiles...how could one not grin after a romantic verse such as that...very nicely done...
Susan, this is one of my favorite poems ... perfectly composed, hitting all the right notes.
Lovely. As Margaret (above) says . . romantic.
nicely done.....thanks for sharing
Beautifully spoken! :-)
