Worky Wednesday.

Yippee Skippee!

Today's the day I can finally tell you
the news that will explain WHY
I have been such a lousy blog friend.
Yes, it's an excuse and possibly a lame one,
but it has certainly shaken the ground
in Small Works Land...

Small Works is moving.
No, not in the "Same bat-time, same bat-channel" sort of way...Small Works itself will still be found right here (if any of you have been kind enough to stick around while I've been sorta MIA).

I mean, the whole kit-and-kaboodle is moving:  Susan, her wool stash, her studio, her stacks of old magazines, Cooper -- pretty much everything I write about is moving -- EXCEPT -- the Minnesota weather.  That is going to stay right here.  Which means I am going to have to find new things to write about.

I'll probably still write about the weather, actually -- because it's "out of the frying pan, into the fire" (literally)....

We are moving to Phoenix!

That means that instead of complaining about the cold for 9 months of the year, I can complain about the heat for 9 months!  Everyone shout hooray!  Because I like heat ever-so-much more than cold. So my complaining may become more good-natured.

And my neighbors may finally understand me!

A home in the desert!
A land of guacamole and promise!

If I can ever get there.  There are a few things that have to happen first.  Getting windows last week was step one. There are about 100 additional steps.  Which is why I have been wearing paint clothes for so long, it feels like I was born in them.

But it feels so good
to have let the secret escape at last!

Please bear with me while I am in and out for the next while -- once the house is on the market, things will calm down around here.  (And that better be soon, since the St. Paul ACC is just a month away!)

Perhaps the best thing about blog friends is that you can take them with you.
(Hope you'll come along to the new neighborhood!)

Now get lost! -- before I hand you a paint brush and put you to work.....

Happy Wednesday!

MyMy that's a huge change. Altho I am with you in the heat vs cold game. I moved from south Florida to the SF Bay Area twelve years ago and i am still cold-as we speak I am in front of the heater, wrapped in a blanket, wearing a hat. And the thermometer is telling me it's 74 in here. I say-no way that 74 feels this cold. Then, there's that cold toilet seat situation that seems to be problematic all year long here.

I hope you love Phoenix and I promise to follow you wherever you land.

Oh Susan! I just returned from a week in Phoenix! I have traveled there many times over the years .. it is one of my all time favorite places. Someone once told me I must have been a lizard in another life. Can't wait to keep track of the events! Wonderful news!

Oh Susan I am over the moon for you - you'll have to send me some sunshine next winter, lol! I'm so happy for you!!!!

I'm happy for you, too, Susan. You sound like you have been a desert rose transplanted to the back of a dark, cold house. I'm glad for you that you'll be warm again and feel the sand and sun any time you wish.

I expect to see even more bright colors in your work and sunshine in your words.

As for THIS Idaho spud. Phoenix and anything south of Utah is just too freakin' hot and dry. Maybe we can meet in the middle someday. And, erm, you've got a little paint smear on your elbow.

Yippie!! I can't wait to be back in Phoenix, too! Yay!

I hope that the rest of your list goes quickly, and that the house sells quickly. I'd happily come help paint... But alas...

Good luck!

Awesome! You are going from 1500 miles away to 300 miles away! Ironically, we are planning a trip to Minnesota in September to visit my sister. Guess you won't be there! So . . . when are you coming to Southern California?

Yay! Good luck to you with the move and house and everything. Now for us to find John a job there so we can join everyone! =)

But I'll still be here. In the cold. Lindsay and I will hold down the igloo--you tried to escape Minnesota once, and it sucked you back in for 11 years...

I do hope it doesn't do that again. And I also hope that I can escape one day too!

Also, you moving to a sunshiny place gives me a top-notch reason to visit a sunshiny place.
