I'm no elephant.

My family will gladly attest
to the veracity of that statement.

(No this isn't going to be a political post,
so don't start getting nervous or
shouting your opinions at me now.
We'll save that for another day.)

I'm actually  referring to the old adage "an elephant never forgets",
although I must admit I've forgotten why that's an old adage.

I'm much more like the proverbial goldfish

who swims around his bowl excitedly thinking,
"Look!  A treasure chest!"  each time he takes a lap.

I forget EVERYTHING.

So when I was digging through a drawer of old linens the other day
I couldn't help thinking, "Look!   An embroidered cactus-head-lady!"

when I came across these two little cuties hiding on a tea towel.

Of course I've had them for years.  I just didn't really remember them.
And so then I was immediately reminded of another old adage,

"There's no such thing as a new idea"

and I could only think to myself, RATS.

QED.

  Thus it is proved.

You may remember that I once shared with you the genesis of my ubiquitous flower-pot-head lady when I was dismayed to find something similar on a 12 year old clipping from a catalog cover I had stashed in one of my files.

It does make me wonder whether the Aztecs actually had the internet
long before it became a glimmer in Al Gore's mind.

And now that we've once again established that I'm a copyright infringing plagiarist with total disregard for the intellectual property rights of artists of every period and persuasion, would you like to know why I was digging through my old linens?

Because I have an idea.

Of course, the idea is a result of things I've seen lately that have gotten me thinking.

So no, it's not a new idea.

Can I make it new?  I don't know.

But if you come back next time I'll tell you more about it
and I'll probably begin the post by saying something like,

"Look!  A new idea!"

Laughed my way through this post, so been there done that - ALL of it - the worst is when you come up with what you think is a BRAND NEW idea, then find the exact thing in a current magazine. And there's no way you could have seen it before, because the internet hadn't been invented. ARGH.

Hehe, I love it. How funny.

I do that quite often when I am making cards or jewelry. I think it is something that I created on my own only to see it in a store somewhere. Oh well, it was a new idea to me, at least.

Hehe! Look a treasure chest! Look! a treasure chest!

Love how you write, how you think and how you create. Look! Another great idea in my sketch book. Hey, it looks just like that painting on my friend's wall...that I painted. ...oh

Ha ha ha -- you guys are all pretty funny. This has all happened to me so many times, it's actually not funny.

But I like the thought that something can just be a new idea to me, Amelia . . . although sometimes I have the same new idea again, Leenie!

I have been knitting some bug critters over the last year...I make an i-cord for antenna and add in a little fun fur at the top... My mom opened up Stuffed magazine and screamed "Oh My God they stole your idea" LOL There was a critter in the magazine with similar antenna..we laughed at the timing of it...I had thought I was so original. Ha!
