Small Works is brought to you today by the letter "F" . . .

(Actual deck footage from my actual deck)
October Snow!
Hooray, Hooray!
Let's all go
Outside to play!
(and the weatherman says . . . more on the way!)
Oh yes -- and one more "F" word
(but don't worry -- I'm not THAT cranky):
Ick and double ick.
You can be certain, the only time I will ever
cheer for October snow will be this day:
It could happen . . . ?

Unbelievable! You have my shivering sympathy, just from looking at those photos.
The only thing I ever enjoyed about snow, apart from that wondrous silencing of the outdoor world that comes after a really heavy snowfall, was putting birdseed out on the deck and watching the birds come. Especially the cardinals and chickadees, my winter favorites.
But hey, it's a great excuse to stay in, watch TV or a favorite movie, and stitch away... or maybe go online and book a flight to Phoenix!
Ok, the title of your post alone had me almost wetting my pants - you are hysterical, ya know that?
My word verification is "teery". I'm laughing so hard, I am a little "teery".
LuAnne -- We're thinking about getting a feeder this year too because I would enjoy watching the birds. But I'm worried about a few scrappy and tenacious squirrels that have moved into the neighborhood -- we'll have to be tricky about placement. They've already figured out how to steal all the berries off our bushes that the birds used to feast on all autumn. The squirrels had those things plucked clean by mid- September.
Allie -- Glad someone's laughing. Minnesota's weather is so great that we sometimes send it to Michigan when we're finished with it . . . tee hee!
If it's any consolation, last night I had to relocate a wayward scorpion I found wandering down our hallway. Every area has its drawbacks...
Alas, birdseed = squirrels; it's a sad fact of life. Some say it helps to sprinkle cayenne pepper in the birdseed, but our squirrels never seem to object to the extra spice.
OMG, that is some serious weather. Worthy of an "F" word in my book.
I'm shivering just looking at it.
Freaky. For fantastic fahrenheit, you should fly to Feenix.
You are truly hysterical. I love it. I'm sorry you are getting October snow...we are getting October heat wave. It's supposed to be 99 on the day we are packing up the truck. How awesome is that?
And you can trust that I will be sharing pictures and stories of our adventures as soon as I can. I'm going to be staying at home in VA so I'll hopefully have some free time in which to blog :)
